Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation and Discovery Education Expand Partnership to Launch STEM School Programs

The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) and Discovery Education today announced an innovative new phase of partnership that launches Takween Al Ghurair: STEM Connect in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This program provides students between the ages of 13-18 with access to digital skill-based learning opportunities during and after school that create future-ready learners.

The program invites Emirati students in grades 7-12 to engage in short, dynamic lessons that address real-world challenges at the intersection of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Fully customized and offered in Arabic and English, these lessons are aligned to the UAE grade-level national curriculum; include hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity, fuel creativity and develop critical thinking skills; and make learning both fun and impactful.

“In today’s rapidly changing world, STEM education is crucial,” said Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar, CEO of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF). “By making these subjects engaging and accessible with hands-on learning activities, we foster academic excellence while empowering Emirati students to become innovators and leaders who will shape a brighter future for the UAE. This partnership emphasizes our commitment to Takween Al Ghurair’s goals of equipping young minds with essential skills for success.”

The STEM Connect program is designed to enhance the core curriculum and help students develop creativity, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills. Key features of the program include:

  • Real-World Challenges: Encourages students to solve both local and global issues.
  • Career Connections: Links classroom learning to diverse STEM careers, showing students the real-world applications of their studies.
  • Content Connection Activities: Integrates skills across various disciplines, including math, literacy, the arts, and health, to provide a comprehensive learning experience.
  • Hands-On Activities: Combines dynamic digital content with hands-on explorations, enabling students to build, design, and innovate.

“Discovery Education is proud to expand their partnership with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF) to bring high-quality STEM instruction to students across the UAE,” said Michael Savitz, Discovery Education’s International General Manager. “This collaboration will give UAE educators further access to the innovative resources they need to create dynamic digital learning environments that nurture student curiosity, drive deep engagement, and prepare learners for success in the classroom and beyond.”

At the end of the program, students will present their projects at a special event, celebrating their achievements with family and the community.
