First4Maths Academy Launches Online Training to Empower Nursery & Primary Mathematics Teaching
First4Maths Academy is a new, innovative online training and support service designed to inspire and empower nursery and primary school teachers.
First4Maths Academy supports teachers and reduces their workload, helping schools deliver high quality maths education more easily and consistently. Designed by teachers for teachers, First4Maths Academy is as effective as face-to-face support, but more accessible, inspiring and guiding teachers through each objective.
Director Toni Priddey said it is a ‘dream come true’ to launch an online programme to reach more teachers and schools, in a highly cost-effective way.

The online programme means teachers can now access short, high quality training videos and downloadable resources at a time that suits them, with in-person live support for a truly tailored approach. It’s exciting to see First4Maths Academy having a positive impact on the confidence of teachers and their ability to deliver inspiring lessons on such an important aspect of the curriculum.”
Now, thanks to an injection of investment arranged by SFC Capital, First4Maths Academy can be developed further to include even more support and resources for its schools. We are delighted to be able to invest in this product to enable Toni and her team to support even more schools in the future.”
First4Maths Academy has sought to address the problem of teachers feeling overwhelmed with the range of resources available to support the planning and teaching of maths. With everything in one place and available in bite-sized chunks, teachers can more easily build their subject knowledge and confidence and, ultimately, deliver more effective and inspiring lessons.
First4Maths Academy stems from the success of First4Maths, a consultancy team which has delivered in-person training and support to hundreds of schools since 2011. During its initial launch, over 40 schools benefitted from successful outcomes for the children and teachers. Rachel Oakley, a leader using First4Maths Academy, said ‘It is the best CPD we have ever had.’

Each training video covers lesson planning and assessment criteria alongside activities, worksheets, and a range of resources to support pupils’ understanding. Teachers are given training on how to prompt and challenge pupils as well as an awareness of potential misconceptions that may arise when teaching a particular mathematical concept.
All First4Maths Academy training is available online so it can be accessed and revisited wherever and whenever required. The additional online support from the First4Maths Academy consultants enables teachers to get personalised, tailored support too.
Annual subscription enables full access to all training materials and resources, subject knowledge training for each objective from Nursery to Year 6, in-person support via monthly Zooms for each year group plus training for Subject Leaders and Teaching Assistants. An annual subscription costs £999 + VAT for up to 20 users per school. Individual year group packages are available at a cost of £250 + VAT. Schools are able to sign up for a 2-week free trial to enable leaders and teachers to get a flavour of the support available from First4Maths Academy.
LAUNCH EVENT: First4Maths Academy will be formally launched at a special CPD and Afternoon Tea event for teachers at Nunsmere Hall, Northwich, Cheshire, on Friday 28th June. The event is open to teachers, subject leaders and anyone involved in maths education for nursery and primary schools.
