Protecting the Planet This Plastic Free July with Premier League Primary Stars
As schools across the UK explore ways to embed sustainability into the classroom, Plastic Free July is the perfect moment to empower pupils to take action – and a new, free resource from Premier League Primary Stars is making it easier than ever.
The Protect the Planet pack – designed for Key Stage 2 (ages 7–11) – connects children’s love of football with environmental education, helping teachers spark meaningful discussions around sustainability. Developed in partnership with The Ministry of Eco Education and Forest Green Rovers Community, the resource brings eco-friendly choices to life through real-world case studies from Premier League clubs and players.
Through fun, curriculum-linked activities, pupils explore key environmental challenges like:
- Plastic waste and food waste
- Sustainable travel
- Biodiversity and energy use
- Climate-friendly habits that start at school and ripple into the community
Protect the Planet is designed to support PSHE (Living in the Wider World) learning objectives, while encouraging pupils to become active participants in protecting their planet.
