This year’s theme is ‘Creating the Foundations for Connection, Play and Learning;
Bodily Regulation in Creative Arts Therapies’ `and is aimed at those working therapeutically with children and their families.
As therapeutic professionals, we talk a lot about emotional regulation – but what about bodily regulation? Most of us don’t think about bodily regulation because when it’s working well, it’s invisible. Our bodies just… work.
Keynote Speaker Sarah Lloyd (creator of the BUSS® Model) helps us understand why bodily regulation matters SO much – and what happens for children when it’s not working well.
The key insight: You can’t build emotional regulation on top of poor bodily regulation. When a child’s body is constantly sending confusing signals, everything else becomes harder – relationships, play, and learning.
Our afternoon offers a range of hands-on experiential workshops, and a plenary delivered by the wonderful Dr Dan Wuori.
