This partnership gives UK primary schools continued access to Espresso, alongside thousands more curriculum-aligned videos and resources
Discovery Education today announced a partnership with ClickView, the video learning platform trusted by over 11,000 schools, 1 million teachers, and 7 million students and a fast-growing alternative to YouTube in classrooms. The partnership gives UK primary schools a clear path to continue using Espresso while gaining access to a wider range of curriculum-aligned video and teaching resources.
Espresso is one of the UK’s most recognised primary learning resources, trusted by teachers for years to support lesson planning and bring curriculum topics to life. Designed with teachers in mind, it combines high-quality videos, activities, presentations, quizzes and topical content to reduce workload while giving pupils rich, real-world learning experiences.
Through the partnership, Espresso videos and resources are moving to ClickView, giving schools continued access to the Espresso content they know and value, with the added benefit of thousands more curriculum-aligned videos and classroom-ready resources in the same platform.
Why ClickView
By bringing Espresso into ClickView, schools will be able to access familiar Espresso resources in a dedicated Espresso Hub, while also benefiting from a wider library of curriculum-aligned videos, interactive quizzes, teaching resources and insights to support pupil engagement.
Espresso joins ClickView alongside Tigtag and Twig, whose science and geography films and lessons were integrated in 2024. Schools will also be able to explore educational videos from a wide range of producers, including BBC Bitesize, BBC Teach, Horrible Histories, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Crash Course, TED-Ed, DreamWorks and more.
“We wanted to find the right home for Espresso, somewhere teachers could continue accessing the learning resources they rely on. ClickView was the natural fit, and we’re confident Espresso is in great hands”, said Michael Savitz, General Manager UK and International at Discovery Education.
“Espresso has been a trusted name in UK primary schools for years. Bringing it into ClickView means primary teachers now have even more high-quality, curriculum-aligned resources in one place, saving them time and keeping pupils engaged”, said Edward Filetti, CEO of ClickView.
What this means for schools that currently subscribe to Espresso
Schools that renew will continue to have access to Espresso videos and resources through a dedicated Espresso Hub on ClickView, organised by learning area and curriculum topic. This includes News and Topical content, so teachers can continue using the resources that are already part of their day-to-day teaching.
By renewing, schools will also receive full access to ClickView, including:
- Thousands of curriculum-aligned videos across every subject and year group, from hundreds of providers, including Tigtag and Twig
- Movies + TV, a curated collection of educationally relevant films, documentaries and TV series, ideal for studied texts or an end-of-term treat
- Interactive quizzes with embedded questions to promote active learning
- Data insights to help track pupil engagement and identify gaps in understanding
Existing sign-in and LMS integrations will continue to work as before, so teachers can keep signing in via SSO and sharing videos through the systems they already use.
What happens next
Schools can renew today at their existing rate to keep Espresso and gain full access to ClickView at no extra cost. Schools that renew early will receive access to ClickView straight away, side by side with Espresso, giving teachers time to explore the wider library of curriculum-aligned videos and resources before the transition is complete.
A safe alternative as UK schools prepare for new social media rules
The partnership comes at a pivotal moment for UK education. The UK government is banning under-16s from YouTube as part of its wider social media age-verification measures, expected to come into full effect by Spring 2027. This presents a real challenge for schools, Multi Academy Trusts (MATs) and local authorities that currently rely on YouTube as a classroom teaching tool, and many are now looking for curriculum-aligned video platforms that offer the benefits of classroom video without the ads, autoplay and algorithmic recommendations of open platforms. As a dedicated, ad-free video platform built solely for schools, ClickView offers a ready alternative for schools as they plan for the mandate.
