DOODLE LEARNING SUPPORTS TEACHERS AND PUPILS ON NATIONAL NUMERACY DAY AND BEYOND

Doodle Learning by Discovery Education is supporting teachers, pupils and families on National Numeracy Day with a range of engaging maths programmes designed to build confidence and strengthen numeracy skills all year round. Taking place on 20th May 2026, National Numeracy Day aims to help children and adults feel more positive about maths and more confident using numbers in everyday life.

Designed for children from EYFS to KS2, Doodle Learning’s award-winning, curriculum-aligned digital programmes help make maths fun, accessible and relevant to real-world situations. Through personalised learning, interactive activities and gamified practice, Doodle supports schools and parents in helping children develop core numeracy skills at their own pace. By setting work at just the right level and rewarding effort over ability, Doodle lets every child work independently, helping even less confident learners gain a love of maths.

Doodle’s award-winning maths apps include:

  • DoodleMaths – creates every child a personalised work programme tailored to their individual learning needs. Using adaptive learning technology, DoodleMaths helps build confidence and improve ability through targeted practice and encouragement
  • DoodleTables – an interactive times tables app featuring games and activities designed to help children improve fluency and recall in a fun and motivating way

Research shows that using Doodle for just ten minutes a day can significantly boost a child’s progress in maths. In a recent study involving more than 60,000 children, pupils who used Doodle little and often each day accelerated their maths progress by 79%.

Charity Lisko, Discovery Education’s Vice President for International Product, Curriculum and Content said:

“National Numeracy Day is a valuable opportunity to encourage positive attitudes towards maths and help children build confidence with numbers. At Discovery Education we are committed to supporting teachers and families with engaging tools that make maths enjoyable, accessible and relevant both in the classroom and at home.”

DoodleMaths can be used offline and on smartphones, tablets, laptops and desktops, letting children learn anywhere, anytime.

Discovery Education is also helping teachers keep children engaged with maths and English learning this summer through a special DoodleLearning offer designed to support learning beyond the classroom. Schools can buy a Doodle subscription now and not pay until September, making it easier to support pupils over the summer holidays and prepare for the new academic year. The offer also includes access to Doodle’s popular Summer Challenge, encouraging children to keep learning with regular short sessions.
