An independent school described as North London’s “best-kept secret” has unveiled a state-of-the-art immersive classroom to enable pupils to explore everything from outer space to Ancient Egypt as part of a major investment in future-focused learning.
Pupils at Hendon Prep, on Tenterden Grove, are now able to step directly into the subjects they are studying thanks to a new learning environment transforms lessons into lived experiences through cutting-edge interactive technology, whether navigating the Milky Way or walking through the Pyramids of Giza.
The immersive classroom forms part of a £400,000 investment designed to enhance the school’s innovative approach to learning, with early feedback from staff highlighting increased engagement, stronger attainment, and greater enthusiasm for learning, with pupils retaining knowledge more effectively.
As part of the investment, Hendon Prep will also set to open a dedicated STEM “FAB Lab” in September 2026. The purpose-built space, which includes a mini wind tunnel, will also feature 3D printers, electronics benches, strengthening the school’s commitment to hands-on, future-ready education.
Headteacher Matthew Foley said the new facilities represent a significant step forward in bridging the gap between imagination and real-world application.

Beyond academic use, the space also supports wellbeing and pastoral provision, offering a calm, adaptable environment for reflection, small-group work, and focused support.
The investment comes just months after Hendon Prep joined Blenheim Schools, a family of all-ability independent schools committed to delivering high-quality education tailored to each pupil’s individual needs, interests, and aspirations.
