Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised £1 million to date for global development charity Right To Play. This vital support is helping the charity to transform the lives of vulnerable children in its programmes around the world using the power of play.
Right To Play UK has received funding raised by players of the Postcode Lottery since 2024 in support of the charity’s urgent work.
The funds raised by players are making it possible for Right To Play to protect, educate and empower children in some of the most difficult places on earth, whose lives are often impacted by extreme challenges such as conflict, poverty and discrimination. Through its play-based programmes, the charity is helping children to stay in school, resist exploitation, and heal from the trauma of war and displacement.
Gillian McMahon, Executive Director at Right To Play UK, said: “We are so grateful for the incredible support we receive from players of People’s Postcode Lottery. These vital funds are making a life-changing difference to children around the world. Through our global programmes, we are empowering children to overcome barriers, build resilience and develop the critical life skills they need to thrive. A huge thank you to players of People’s Postcode for helping to give children a better future.”
Laura Chow, head of charities at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “It’s fantastic that players of People’s Postcode Lottery have now raised £1 million for Right To Play’s life-changing work. Every ticket helps create opportunities for children living in some of the most challenging circumstances around the world. It’s inspiring to see how the power of play is being used to help children heal, learn and build brighter futures.”
Founded 25 years ago, Right To Play reaches millions of children each year in 14 countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle East, improving their well-being and enabling them to reach their potential. The charity uses play – one of the most fundamental forces in a child’s life – as a tool for learning and healing, supporting children in both humanitarian and development contexts.
The charity’s work includes delivering play-based learning in schools and providing mental health support to help children living through conflict and crisis cope with trauma.
