TTS Launches Podcast Series to Support Play is Learning Campaign

New four-part series brings together leading voices in education to explore the role of play in Key Stage 1 learning

TTS has launched a special four-part mini-series of its Educators’ Podcast this June in support of the Play is Learning campaign, founded by education and inclusion consultant Ruth Lue-Quee, widely known as My Mummy Teacher.

As Strategic Partner of the campaign, TTS has proudly supported the movement through sponsorship, advocacy and engagement, including standing alongside campaigners at Westminster and using its platform to amplify the conversation around the importance of play in children’s education.

The Play is Learning campaign is calling for play and continuous provision to be made statutory within England’s Key Stage 1 curriculum, recognising the significant role that play-based learning can have in supporting children’s development, wellbeing and long-term educational outcomes.

Hosted by TTS’ Early Childhood Educationalist, Adam Marycz, the podcast mini-series will bring together respected educators, researchers and practitioners to explore the evidence, practice and impact of play-based learning in Early Years and Key Stage 1 settings.

Episodes will be released every Wednesday throughout June, beginning on 3 June, and will feature:

  • Episode 1: An Overview of Play is Learning with Ruth Lue-Quee – discussing the origins and aims of the campaign and the case for play-based learning in Key Stage 1.
  • Episode 2: Evidence of Play Supporting KS1 Children with Professor Julie Fisher – exploring the research and evidence supporting play-based learning in Key Stage 1.
  • Episode 3: Real Stories of Play Supporting Learning with Tina Farr – sharing how play has been embedded within the KS1 curriculum at St Ebbe’s Primary School.
  • Episode 4: Why Play Matters with Dr William Zoppellini – concluding the series by examining the wider importance of play and how children learn best.

Commenting on the series, series host Adam Marycz said:

“Play is not separate from learning – it is one of the most powerful ways children make sense of the world around them.

“Through this series, we want to bring together experts, researchers and educators to explore the evidence behind play-based learning and share real examples of the impact it can have on children’s confidence, wellbeing and learning and development.

“As a Strategic Partner of the Play is Learning campaign, we’re proud to use our platform to help amplify this important conversation.”

The mini-series forms part of TTS’ ongoing commitment to supporting educators with evidence-informed insights and championing approaches that help children thrive both academically and developmentally.

Educators and school leaders can follow the conversation via TTS social media channels and access episodes on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts.
