Exceptional achievements for family of schools in Essex

The Chelmsford Learning Partnership (CLP) is commending its primary, secondary and sixth form students for a flurry of recent academic achievements and successes, with the trust reporting a significant rise in A Level, GCSE and SAT grades.

Roding Valley High School, The Beaulieu Park School, The Boswells School and William de Ferrers highlighted impressive academic improvements across the board for their Year 11 and 13 students. The celebrations were made all the more significant as they marked The Beaulieu Park School’s second-ever set of GCSE results, which coincided with Roding Valley High School’s 35th anniversary.

Younger pupils at Barnes Farm Primary School, Lakelands Primary School, Perryfields Infant School, Rettendon Primary School, Runwell Community Primary School, The Beaulieu Park School, The Tyrrells Primary School and Woodville Primary School also demonstrated strong performance and clear progress, which reflects the continued development across all eight infant and primary schools.

Paul Banks, Chief Executive Officer at CLP, said: “At Chelmsford Learning Partnership, we believe in the power of partnership, working together with our schools to inspire curiosity and nurture ambition in inclusive learning environments. This year’s results from across our family of schools are a wonderful testament to that shared commitment. These achievements didn’t happen in isolation; they reflect the unwavering dedication of our teaching staff, the support of families and the determination of the young people themselves. We couldn’t be prouder, and we look forward with optimism as our students take their next steps in education and careers.”

Significant rise in A* – A grades at A Level

Compared to 2024, the trust highlights substantial improvements across all grade boundaries. Students have secured places at prestigious universities, including Cambridge, Durham, UCL and other Russell Group institutions, to read a range of subjects, including Medicine, Law, Engineering, and Creative Arts. Students have also secured competitive apprenticeships with leading employers, such as Aviva, Allianz, and Barclays.

Continued improvement in [9 – 7 grades] at GCSEs

The trust notes an increase in students achieving grades awarded 9 – 7 and 9 – 4 in English and Mathematics. The increases in core subjects across its family of schools occurred alongside a rise in the entry and attainment of the English Baccalaureate (EBacc), as well as significant improvements in the performance of its disadvantaged pupils.

Marc White, the Director of Secondary Education at CLP, congratulated students: “It is particularly pleasing to see improvements across our secondary schools for disadvantaged students, showcasing the success of our trust’s efforts to narrow attainment gaps and ensure every young person is equipped to achieve success. We are excited to welcome many Year 11s into our schools’ sixth forms this academic year and see the excellent things they go on to achieve.”

High-performing primary outcomes

Reception-aged children across the schools outperformed the national average for reaching a ‘Good Level of Development’. The schools’ Key Stage 2 results outperformed national averages in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics, with many schools reporting that over 90% of pupils met the expected standard in core subjects. ‘Greater Depth Scores’ were particularly high in Reading and Mathematics, with several schools having 40% of pupils reaching the advanced level.

“These results are a testament to the dedication of our staff and the enthusiasm of our pupils. At CLP, we remain committed to ensuring every child at every stage of education can reach their full potential. Looking ahead, we are excited to support next year’s cohort and to continue working in close partnership with all our schools, children and communities to raise aspirations, drive ambition and secure even greater success”, applauded Ross McTaggart, the Director of Primary Education at CLP.

Chelmsford Learning Partnership’s schools offer a varied curriculum to their students, giving them the opportunities to pursue their interests and explore different career pathways. Its schools offer support networks, extracurricular opportunities and holistic enrichment programmes to ensure students reach their full potential.
