YPO and ElevationX drive sustainability in schools

YPO is collaborating with ElevationX to deliver free school workshops about sustainability for year 5 and 6 school children.

Aimed at Key Stage 2 and 3 students, Power to Drive allows school children to learn about electricity and energy by building and racing electric cars.

The free workshops delivered by ElevationX staff are aimed at increasing learning opportunities on the principles of engineering, renewable energy and maths.

Split into teams, children attending the sessions will be taught about voltage and range whilst building miniature electric cars. The teams then compete against one another in a race to see which car travels the furthest distance.

Delivered by ElevationX and YPO on behalf of N-Power and Eon, the free workshops are available to all schools that purchase energy through YPO.

Power to Drive aims to teach the next generation about the UK’s energy transition to renewable energy, as Britain looks to a green future and achieving Net Zero by 2050.

Steven Warren, Energy Key Account Manager at YPO, commented: “It’s fantastic to join ElevationX in sparking children’s curiosity around energy. These workshops inspire the next generation to lead with awareness, innovation and purpose.”

Matt Ridler, Managing Director at ElevationX, added: “We’re delighted to be working with YPO and Npower Business Solutions, to deliver these hands-on and interactive workshops to so many upper primary school age pupils across the region. It’s great to see the enthusiasm, teamwork and manual dexterity skills the pupils display, and the real passion they show for renewable energy technologies and their interest in electric vehicles.”

Educators interested in running the Power to Drive workshops are encouraged to contact the dedicated YPO energy team at: energy@ypo.co.uk.
