This Earth Day (22 April), the Premier League is proud to unveil its newly updated Protect the Planet resource pack – free to all primary schools in England and Wales through its education programme, Premier League Primary Stars. Designed to support teachers and ignite pupils passion for sustainability, the pack empowers young people to take meaningful climate action, all from within the classroom.
This resource is one of many ways the Premier League is helping children build key life skills through the power of football. Through the Premier League Primary Stars programme, more than 19,000 primary schools across England and Wales are already using free, curriculum-linked resources to explore values, life skills and community issues.
Perfectly timed for Earth Day, the Key Stage 2 resource is aimed at pupils aged 7–11. Protect the Planet offers a dynamic, cross-curricular learning experience, featuring real-world stories from Premier League clubs and players. Pupils are encouraged to explore the power of small, everyday choices – and how they can make a big difference to our planet.
Created in partnership with The Ministry of Eco Education and Forest Green Rovers Community, the Protect the Planet pack covers four key sustainability themes:
- Food – Understand how healthy, eco-friendly food choices benefit us and the planet
- Transport – Explore how reducing air pollution through cleaner transport can make a difference
- Energy – Discover why using less energy and switching to renewable energy matters
- Nature – Learn what nature is, why we need it, and how to help it thrive
The curriculum-aligned content (covering KS2 PSHE: Living in the Wider World and Progression Steps 2 and 3: Health and Wellbeing) also includes opportunities for discussion, reflection, and creative writing, helping pupils become confident sustainability champions in their schools and wider communities.

The impact of Premier League Primary Stars is widely recognised in schools across the country, with 96% of teachers registered reporting that it has increased their pupils’ demonstration of at least one key life value, with fairness, resilience and determination coming out on top.
